I recently read that Dr. Martens are back in style. WTF? I didn't think they ever were out of style. Back in the 90's I had a pair of vintage 8 hole boots. I wore them to work, I wore them to play, I simply wore them. Slowly over time, I don't know if my feet started to change or if the leather started to harden, but my wonderful boots started to pinch. They started to feel too small. Lacing the 8 holes was a PITA. After sitting in my closet collecting dust I decided it was time to part ways.... and although they hurt my feet and I stopped wearing them... tossing them was a decision I later came to regret.
I kept telling myself that I hadn't worn them in forever, and that they pinched, but my silly self just continued to miss them. So I decided I would replace the boots with ones that fit better. Well holy crap fest!! They retail for $200!!
As luck would have it, last week I was trolling the Sally Ann and guess what is sitting on the shelf? A pair of 6 hole Docs. In my size. Selling for $10. Talk about right place at the right time. I looked at the tag twice in disbelief - shouldn't there be another zero on the end of the price? This style retails for $130. Bless those little blue haired old lady volunteers who don't know the value of coolness.
