Friends, coworkers, family have mentioned I have a bad habit of biting off my nose to spite my face. Not going with the flow. Stirring the pot. Kicking Ass. Speaking Up. And you know what? It's true! And you know what else? I don't care! There have been more than a few times when I have let fly verbal jabs that have brought people to their knees. The satisfaction I've felt from speaking my defiance at injustice - and seeing the utter look of shock on the other person's face- has been worth the price. It's not what's said that does the most damage, it's what goes unsaid.
Kudos to Josef Miles. At the young age of 9, Josef has the knowledge to recognize what is hateful, the empathy to understand
why the protest is wrong, and the heart to take a stand. Why is it that, as a culture, we are more comfortable seeing two men holding guns than holding hands?
