Sleeping On It

After sleeping on it - I'm going to go with US.

I like LW and found her to be direct and straight forward. She is looking for someone with an advanced skill set to take full responsibility and who can work independently. She took the time to show me the work area, kitchen etc. When we were interviewing she closed her door and spoke very candidly about things. She didn't bother with those dumb as interview questions. She laid out the job, why they are looking and didn't pretty it up.

Being a straight shooter, I appreciated her honesty and it was REFRESHING to have an interview that wasn't a circus act. When I interview, and because I have a strong personality, I don't portray anything different. I have found too many people say "what they think you want to hear" and in the end its a waste of everyone's time. Honest representation is the best. Either its going to be a good fit or not. No point in trying to change yourself for a fit that isn't good.

But you already know that because you have heard me bitch (endlessly at times) saying "if people were just a little more honest...." I really like Mtn and the concept of environmental responsibility- but I agree- a flag is a flag. I got a vibe from dealing with HR and Kath's comments have added another one. She said she wanted to tell me because she is alot like me and has come up against this issue a few times in her tenure. She wanted to warn me so I could make an informed decision or be prepared (should I accept). She kept stressing that she likes my personality and has no doubt I'd take the role to a new and improved level blush) but she knows (like I know) that a conservative environment may be tricky for a kat like me.

The number one thing I look for in a company is : how good will my personality fit here? Skills are skills. My gut tells me Mtn and meare not too compatible.

Its funny- had I not run into the stumbling block over my references with Mtn- I`d never have known about the conservative people, would have accepted the job and probably been pissed off that they portrayed themselves differently at the interview. Today I`ll work on my decline letter. No point in burning the bridge.
